What Ecuadorian Consular Procedures Cost in the United States
If you searched for the price of an Ecuadorian passport in the United States and found three different figures, the problem is not you: that is genuinely the situation. Each consular office publishes its own fee list, and right now they do not match. So this page does not give you a single price. It gives you what each consulate publishes, with the source and the date we checked it, so you can confirm it with the office handling your appointment.
And there is something that often matters more than the amount: the accepted payment method changes from office to office. Some accept only money orders, others only cards. Turning up with the wrong one is one of the most common ways to lose an appointment that took weeks to get.

Taken from each office's official page on cancilleria.gob.ec. The last column shows when the page we consulted was published or updated — an important detail, because a 2021 page may not reflect the current amount.

How you pay at each office
There is no room to improvise here, because the payment method cannot be fixed at the counter:

Payments are made exclusively by debit or credit card, or by bank deposit.

Money order as the only accepted method, and in some cases two separate money orders are required.
💵 Connecticut
Cash or money order, for the exact amount: that office warns it gives no change.

Extra charges that catch people out
The procedure fee is not always everything you will pay. These items appear on the pages we consulted:
- Sworn declaration for a lost or stolen passport: added to the passport fee, not instead of it.
- Certified copy of a passport: Connecticut publishes USD 20.
- ID card renewal: Connecticut publishes USD 21, and USD 20 for a first consular ID.
- Returning documents by mail: Connecticut asks for a Priority Mail envelope with a USD 11 stamp and tracking number.

Why we do not publish a single price
It would be tidier to print one figure, but it would not be true. Each office maintains its own page and some have gone years without changes: Connecticut's is from 2021 and Washington DC's from 2022, while New York lists a different amount. From the outside there is no way to know which one is currently in force at each office.
Our rule is simple: we would rather tell you what exists and where it comes from than hand you a round number that leaves you at the counter with the wrong amount. If you spot an outdated figure in this table, tell us through contact and we will review it.
How to confirm your fee before you go
- Find which office covers you by jurisdiction on the list of consulates.
- Open your procedure's page on the Ministry portal and check whether it carries a recent date.
- Call or email the consulate naming the exact procedure, and ask for the amount and the payment method.
- When booking, read the requirements link the platform itself shows before confirming.

How much does an Ecuadorian passport cost in the US?
There is no single amount across the network. New York publishes USD 70 (35 for senior citizens and people with disabilities), while Houston, Washington DC and Connecticut publish USD 90 (45 for seniors). Confirm with your office before travelling.
Is the price the same in Ecuador and at the consulate?
They do not have to match. What you pay at a Civil Registry office in Ecuador and what a consular office in the US publishes are different amounts, so what a relative back home tells you is not a reliable reference.
Can I pay by card?
It depends on the office, and this is the costliest mistake. New York accepts card or bank deposit; Washington DC lists money order as the only method; Connecticut asks for cash or money order for the exact amount. The wrong method can cost you the appointment.
How much is the sworn declaration if I lost my passport?

Is there a charge for the appointment itself?
No. Consulates state that the booking service is free. If someone charges you to secure an appointment, you are not in the official channel.
What about the ID card or civil registry fees?
They are published very unevenly across offices. Connecticut's page lists USD 21 for ID card renewal and USD 20 for a consular ID, but not every office publishes these amounts. Check directly with yours.
